Page One is a book; a post-digital publication which repurposes the book and addresses the on-going call of the end of print. The original purpose of a book is intended to be read, a book exists to end. This book is a compilation of first pages of books collected from the RMIT Swanston Library. The book only contains beginnings of stories, and in doing so, doesn’t end.
The cover encapsulates all of this with a circular optical illusion. A circle, since ancient times, has represented eternity as it has no beginning and no end. The optical illusion is representative of many who try and define when the end of print will be, or even the world. We may think we see the end (much like the optical illusion), but after all, it is all just an illusion.
